My name is Amanda, and I am the creator and owner of Flax Flower.

I’ve been in business for 20 years now and am still in shock that it was so long ago I started.

It sure has been a journey filled with more highs than lows. The motivation of working my dream job every day is what makes my life so much fun. I have zero desire to do anything else EVER - How lucky am I?

The trends in the industry of flowers always keep me desiring to learn more about how I can build my knowledge of flower art.

The work is hard, and I’ve never been afraid of that. I have a passion for everything beautiful in nature and putting them together for every emotion you can think of. It brings warmth to my heart daily to share joy or sorrow with whoever needs it most.

My favorite flower without a doubt would have to be Lilly of the Valley

The art of giving flowers is an honor I will never take for granted.

Hi, I’m Haley! I am fairly new to floristry.

After 12.5 years as an International flighty, covid came and I decided to pursue my passion of flowers. I have always been so intrigued by flowers, the colors, smells, and textures, it simply is the best job!

I love that no two days are the same. I have the freedom to use my creativity and imagination to build happiness for our beautiful customers!

Now for a bit about me, I know all the celebrity goss, spend way to long on tik tok, loves a chat & laugh all day long!

My favorite flowers are Peony’s & Dahlias

Hi, my name is Illa!

I have always loved the floristry industry and am super ecstatic to be working at Flax because what better way to live my life than to be surrounded by flowers.

Flax Flower is a very personal place for me as I grew up visiting the shop and always wished to work and create with my artistic abilities.

I love the ocean, and anything arty, with a real passion for photography. I am surprisingly good at chess and love to go wake boarding.

Natives are easily one of my favorite flowers to work with, but I find smoke bush and Scabiosa’s to be my favorite flower in the house.

Me te wai kōrari

Like the nectar of the flax flower

Joy in small things.

I love to watch tui around my home dipping their beaks into the elegant champagne flute of the harakeke flowers. The flax bushes send up magnificent regal stems of flowers in the summer and the tui gorge themselves on the sweet nectar. They often wear a sprinkling of the pollen on their foreheads, a clear sign of their persistence in the reaching deep into the floral cups.

It is a signal of nature’s abundance and the connectivity of life. watching the birds makes my heart feel so full, makes me glad to be alive to witness this simple, delicious pleasure.
